Sunderland's is improving its presence in the UK after hosting a successful
grand opening of their newly renovated Gala Casino. Having been moved from its
former residence on North Bridge Street, Gala is now located in the River
Quarter. The doors were opened for the first time this past weekend, which
became an impressive showing before the night was through.
Considered to be Sunderland's most wired casino (meaning greater technology,
even for online casino sites),
the Gala could serve as the prototype of all small and medium-sized casinos that
begin to materialize after the introduction of the UK Gambling Bill. The
old Gala, which only had seven tables and a handful of gaming machines, looks
like an antiquated relative of the new 28,000 square foot Gala with 21 gaming
tables and 40 high-tech slot machines.
The most popular addition to Gala Casino seems to be the giant, suspended glass
screen that shows all the football action a sports bettor could want. The
local Black Cat's will undoubtedly get the most screen time. However,
punters can choose from a large selection of games. Even better is that all bets
can be made via online electronic touch pads in the casinos eLounge.
All in all, gamblers can expect both the brew and the coins to be flowing at
Gala Casino. Slot machines are already spitting out £4,000 jackpots,
while the tables are generating constant action. As for the other
twenty-something Sunderland Casinos, the gambling operator did not comment on
what would be done to them, if anything.
